Earlier this summer I arranged a birthday party for my son at Primo Sports in Florida. He was turning 7, and we made plans for 13 of his friends to join in the celebration with soccer and other physical activities.
But shortly thereafter, my son was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson Syndrome, a heart condition which can speed up the cardiac rhythm with any physical activity and have deadly consequences.
So I called Primo Sports to cancel the party for obvious reasons, but the owner, Jim, wouldn’t have it. He said he would put on a carnival for the party instead -- complete with a magician and other non-physical games -- and he would do it free of charge.
To say I was touched would be an understatement. Jim said he would do this because we were very fortunate to find out about this condition in time to get the proper treatment for it.
The party was amazing, and so many of the Primo staff was on hand to help -- again, people Jim was paying, but not charging us for.
I’ve learned he’s done this in the past, and my family and I can’t thank him and the entire Primo Sports staff for such graciousness. And my son is also now being successfully treated for his condition, so we couldn’t be more grateful.
So again, a BIG THANK YOU to Primo Sports for the overwhelming kindness and generosity. We’re just so touched by such a class gesture.
